I’m just as excited as the next guy that American Gladiator is back, but the brutal sport I really loved from childhood is Roller Derby (see I’ve always had a thing for sex and violence). I’d love to see it come back in a big way, but like most things that come back, I can’t imagine it living up to my wild expectatations and fond memories so I’ll just be content to watch old videos of a simpler time…A time when men and women could beat on each other without gloves. A time when men could wear tight lycra shorts and roller skates and still be cool.

Kansas City has an all female Roller Derby league with many teams. Each team has a theme they go buy, for example the Rosies who all dress up like the famous WW2 Rivet Girl poster.
